The Women's Criminal Defense Bar Association is a necessary and valuable asset to all criminal defense attorneys and the clients they represent. The purpose behind our bar association is to promote efficient and professional representation of criminal defendants throughout Cook and collar counties. The criminal law practice presents unique challenges for women that the WCDBA strives to address.

Whats New
Conflict Cases Referral Program
The WCDBA and the Circuit Court of Cook County have established a program by which the court refers cases in which a conflict with the Public Defender's Office exists, a qualified, pre-screened, WCDBA member will accept appointment from the court.

Karla Marie Fiaoni has been licensed to practice law in Illinois since 1989, when she graduated from IIT Chicago Kent College of Law. Her current law practice focuses on Criminal Defense Work. She is a Lifetime and Founding member of the WCDBA and a former Board Member of the South Suburban Bar Association. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Probation Challenge. Her legal experience includes working as a Prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office and the City of Chicago Heights, where she was appointed as Chief of Police in 1994. Karla was the first female Chief of Police to serve in Cook County. She went on to write a million dollar grant through the Violence Against Women's Office and served as the Director of the Program. She is a wife, mother and grandmother. |
